Petrichor is the name of that pleasant scent when it first rains after a long dry spell. What you are actually smelling is various oils secreted by surrounding vegetation, which is released into the air. Petrichor is also the term used in ancient Greek mythology to describe the amber fluid (blood) that flows through the veins of gods. Below is a close-up shot of the center of this piece.
